Software Engineer Payment Operations

Role Overview

You’ll be a Software Engineer on the Payment Operations team, responsible for the execution layer that ensures every dollar on Wingspan’s platform is accounted for, reconciled, and moved accurately on time. You’ll have direct access to production systems, the mandate to find what’s broken or inefficient, and the authority to implement fixes.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and ship internal systems and automation to eliminate operational toil, owning issues end-to-end (diagnosis to permanent fix)
• Build and maintain reconciliation infrastructure to keep the Wingspan ledger, bank records, and platform transaction data continuously aligned
• Develop monitoring and alerting to detect funding health issues and payment anomalies in real time
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Finance to identify recurring operational patterns and drive platform-level reliability improvements
• Support engineering culture through knowledge sharing, code reviews, and improving how the team builds, observes, and automates

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering (or engineering-adjacent) with exposure to payment systems, backend services, or data pipelines
• Strong SQL skills; comfortable writing standalone scripts and using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, OpenAI)
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and backend services with Node.js (as stated)
