Software Engineer - Patient Experience

Role Overview

Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain Natera’s patient-facing web portal and related microservices. You’ll help improve user experience and functionality, working across modern and legacy technologies in a fast-changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design and technical implementation decisions; guide stakeholders (Product Managers, UI/UX) toward high-quality outcomes.
• Work with Product Managers to gather requirements, review designs, and support the full software lifecycle from ideation through release, operations, and maintenance.
• Design, build, and maintain highly available systems for applications, users, providers, and patients.
• Support QA activities with QA engineering teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of overall software development experience.
• Experience building secure, scalable web applications with Node.js, TypeScript, and React.
• Front-end development experience.
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (build, configuration, releases, deployments).
• Strong experience with Test-Driven Development and/or Domain-Driven Development.
• Experience with service-oriented and microservice architecture.
• AWS experience using services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, and S3.
• Experience with GraphQL and REST API design, including event-driven architecture using distributed event stores (e.g., Kafka).
• Strong relational database skills (design and optimization).
• Strong teamwork and analytical skills; excellent communication and facilitation.

Nice to Have / Additional Skills

• JavaScript/Java; SQL/NoSQL (MySQL, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB).
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Docker/container technologies.
• CI/CD with GitLab.
• Experience with Sass, Material UI, HTML/CSS.

Compensation & Location

• Location: United States (Remote USA).
• Pay range: $105,700–$132,100 USD (actual compensation depends on factors such as experience, certifications, and location).
