About the role

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer, you will build new systems, enhance and refactor existing services, integrate with external systems, and work on performance improvements. You’ll collaborate with developers, QA, and Product Managers to design and implement product features and help shape the engineering vision and roadmap.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, or modify software and software systems with service architecture in mind
Analyze user needs and determine whether to build new software or modify existing systems
Translate business requirements into usable, scalable software
Lead design and code reviews
Contribute to discussions on the team’s future vision and strategy

Ideal Candidate

3+ years as a backend software engineer for non-trivial web applications
3+ years of Ruby on Rails
Bonus: experience with Hotwire (Turbo/Stimulus) and Tailwind
Strong critical thinking focused on business functionality
Ability to break down large initiatives into incrementally implementable deliverables
Clear communication of complex problems and solutions
Strong collaboration skills across teams
Extensive experience with data model design for relational databases

Nice-to-Haves / Additional Pluses

Extensive SQL experience for investigation and reporting
Strong experience on the frontend or infrastructure (DevOps)
