About the role

Role Overview

Software Engineer (Core Product) for NextMatch AI. You’ll work across the core platform, including candidate flows, employer dashboards, the matching engine, payment & verification systems, and third-party integrations. The role is internal to Next Match LLC (not a client assignment) and is remote within the US.

Responsibilities

Ship production features end-to-end.
Work across front-end, back-end, and integrations (depending on strengths).
Design, build, and maintain core product features for candidates and employers.
Develop and consume REST/GraphQL APIs and integrate third-party services (ATS, payments, identity).
Work with databases, authentication, permissions, and background jobs.
Collaborate with product, design, and data/AI teams to define requirements and success metrics.
Write clean, testable code; participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
Improve performance, reliability, and security across the stack.
Help shape engineering culture, tools, and best practices as the platform scales.

Requirements

1–7+ years of professional software engineering experience (open to strong juniors with projects/GitHub and experienced mid/senior engineers).
Solid foundation in data structures, APIs, and web fundamentals.
Experience with at least one modern backend stack and one frontend framework.
Ability to debug complex issues and take ownership from idea → shipped feature.
Product mindset focused on user impact.
Comfortable working in a remote-first, fast-moving startup.

Nice to Have

Experience in HR tech, marketplaces, or SaaS platforms.
Exposure to AI/ML products, ranking, or recommendation systems.
Background in early-stage startups or founding engineer environments.

Tech Examples (Not Required to Have All)

Frontend: React / Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind (or similar)
Backend: Node.js (Express/Nest or similar)
Data/Infra: PostgreSQL/MySQL, Redis, queues; AWS (or major cloud), Docker, CI/CD
Other: Payment APIs, authentication, or ATS/HR integrations
