Software Engineer (Js, Typescript)

Role Overview

Join AlphaSense’s Expert Research team as a Staff Software Engineer. The team builds and maintains the infrastructure that supports 9,000+ monthly expert calls and enhances expert-call content engagement via frontend applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy robust software solutions for complex business problems.
• Participate in rapid deployment cycles (e.g., 10+ deployments/day) using feature flags for major releases.
• Research and implement innovative techniques to solve engineering challenges and collaborate effectively.
• Build tools and practices to improve engineering productivity (including automation and advanced tooling).
• Own projects end-to-end, from inception to completion, including:
  • Building systems to measure search engine performance
  • Reworking third-party integrations
• Translate business needs into technical designs aligned to strategic goals.
• Provide technical leadership by mentoring senior engineers, influencing engineering culture, and setting high standards for system design and execution.
• Contribute to long-term technical strategy and participate in critical implementations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience building reliable, mission-critical applications.
• Strong CS fundamentals, including algorithms, asynchronous programming, and distributed systems.
• Solid knowledge of software design and architecture principles.
• Experience with Agile development and automated testing practices.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, pragmatic solutions with urgency.
• Track record of technical leadership without formal management responsibilities.
• Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and drive clarity.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in an open, team-oriented environment.
