Software Engineer (Js, Typescript)

Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer for the Expert Research team, supporting expert call services at the core of AlphaSense’s expert-call offering. You’ll help scale systems that power thousands of expert calls monthly, improve analyst workflows, and integrate third-party data to grow the expert library.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust software solutions for complex business problems
• Deploy frequently (multiple times daily) using feature flags and automated processes
• Research and implement techniques to optimize engineering solutions and platform capabilities
• Build tools/libraries/practices to improve team productivity (e.g., automated deployment pipelines, code quality standards)
• Own end-to-end projects from conception through deployment and monitoring
• Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions and participate in solution design
• Mentor senior engineers, influence technical culture, and uphold best practices in system design

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience building reliable, mission-critical applications
• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, asynchronous programming, distributed systems
• Experience designing scalable architecture and system components
• Agile development experience and automated testing practices
• Proven delivery of high-quality solutions under tight deadlines
• Demonstrated leadership in technical decision-making and cross-team collaboration (without direct management)
• Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and drive clarity
• Excellent communication and a collaborative, mentorship-oriented mindset

Nice to Have / Additional Context

• Work across a full-stack tech stack including Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Vue.js, and React
• Embed AI capabilities into the platform and deliver features improving performance at scale
