Software Engineer (JavaScript, SQL)

Role Overview

Software Engineer joining UHIN to develop and maintain backend APIs and frontend web interfaces for healthcare data exchange solutions. You will collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver customer-focused improvements in how healthcare data is exchanged.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Managers and Designers to deliver solutions for key customer needs
• Build and maintain robust backend APIs using PHP, MySQL, and Laravel
• Design and implement user interfaces using Vue.js (or similar JavaScript frameworks)
• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure reliability and quality
• Use containerization tools to streamline development, testing, and deployment
• Continuously optimize for performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Create and update comprehensive documentation (code, processes, architecture)
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with the team
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to software best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 2 to 5+ years of software engineering experience with both backend and frontend development
• Proficiency with Git, containerization, and automated testing frameworks
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and teamwork skills

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with healthcare standards such as HL7, X12, or FHIR
• Experience with Laravel, MySQL, Kafka, Vue.js, and Node.js
• Familiarity with X12 EDI specifically
