Software Engineer – Java

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Fulfillment Team) responsible for designing, building, and scaling backend systems that power order fulfillment and delivery workflows for tens of thousands of restaurants and millions of customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-availability backend services for order fulfillment and delivery.
• Lead technical design and architecture decisions for cloud-native, distributed, event-driven systems.
• Build APIs and event-driven services integrating with POS, kitchen systems, delivery platforms, and external partners.
• Own services end-to-end: design, implementation, deployment, observability, and reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and promote engineering best practices.
• Provide technical leadership via code reviews, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and contributing to engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Business Operations; coordinate with external vendors.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response for critical systems.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of software engineering experience building secure, scalable backend/distributed systems and leading development.
• Proven experience operating high-scale, cloud-native microservices in production.
• Strong backend Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on cloud experience; GCP preferred.
• Strong understanding of databases, messaging, and caching strategies.
• Excellent problem-solving, ownership, and communication skills.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.

Preferred / Nice-to-Haves

• Domain experience in eCommerce, fulfillment, delivery, or restaurant technology.
• Familiarity with microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Jenkins, Harness).
• Experience with mission-critical systems (strict uptime/latency/SLA).
• Experience with AI tools/technology and additional Python experience.
