About the role

Role Overview

Design, develop, and maintain healthcare applications at Optum Tech. You’ll focus on performance monitoring, security, cloud migration, disaster recovery, and using AI/AIOps to improve automation, observability, and incident response.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain high-performance, secure healthcare applications.
Monitor, log, and analyze application performance; help implement early issue detection.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and apply security fixes.
Collaborate with development teams on proactive system enhancements.
Develop and execute disaster recovery and data backup strategies for business continuity.
Enable CI/CD pipelines to support efficient deployments and updates.
Perform access reviews and monitor user activity in production.
Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives (security, scalability, reliability).
Use AI tools to automate processes and optimize workflows across the software development lifecycle.
Implement AIOps capabilities for log/metrics analysis and improved incident management.
Support prototypes and proof of concepts for large-scale efforts.
Maintain documentation for application functionality and security controls.
Fine-tune and optimize application performance.
Coordinate with stakeholders and upstream/downstream systems to create alerts for dependent failures.
Participate in PLM activities for lifecycle management of healthcare solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of comprehensive IT experience.
Proven security-focused DevOps practices.
Hands-on experience deploying and monitoring applications.
CI/CD tooling experience, including GitHub Actions (GHA).
Cloud platform experience, APIs, and event-driven automation.
Strong Java development experience.
Knowledge of microservices, Maven, XML, and web services (including REST APIs).
Database and SQL programming experience, plus streaming solutions such as Kafka.
Familiarity with AI tools and automation frameworks.
Scripting skills including Python and shell scripting.
Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical issues.

Nice to Have (from posting)

Experience with Power Automate and Microsoft Graph API.
