Software Engineer - Java / Scala / Kafka /Microservices

Role Overview

Software Engineer responsible for designing and developing software applications and reusable components for the Cotiviti product suite, following coding standards and technical design.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop maintainable software modules for Cotiviti’s product suite
• Conduct unit and integration testing
• Analyze requirements/specifications and produce detailed implementation designs
• Diagnose and resolve software issues from internal and external customers
• Stay current with new technologies integrated into the product suite
• Participate in change control management
• Maintain and manage information in written and electronic forms
• Review engineering approaches to ensure adherence to best practices
• Mentor team members on software engineering methods and techniques
• Complete annual performance goals and special projects as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT/Information Systems (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years software development experience with Java/Scala
• 3+ years Microservices and Spring Framework
• 3+ years RESTful API / web services development
• 3+ years SQL and NoSQL database experience
• 3+ years distributed/cluster computing concepts and cloud-native applications
• 3+ years container technology and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
• 3+ years Kafka stream processing (e.g., Kafka Streams, KSQL)
• 3+ years cloud application development (AWS, GCP, or similar)
• Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

Preferred

• 3+ years experience with Spark applications
• 2+ years pairing deeply with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) across architecture, implementation, testing, and code review

Collaboration

Work closely with Senior Developers, QA, Product Owners, Project Management, and other stakeholders.
