Software Engineer-Java / Drools/ Bitbucket

Role Overview

Software Engineer responsible for designing and developing software applications and reusable components for the Cotiviti product suite, following coding standards and technical designs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-quality, maintainable software modules
• Analyze requirements/specifications and create detailed implementation designs
• Conduct unit and integration testing using appropriate methods
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues from internal and external customers
• Integrate and apply new technologies into the product suite
• Manage change control
• Maintain and record information in written and electronic forms
• Review engineering approach for adherence to best practices
• Mentor team members on software engineering methods
• Support annual performance goals and assigned special projects/duties

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT/Information Systems (or equivalent experience)
• Experience optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers
• 2–3 years experience with Java or Python
• 2–3 years experience with third-party platforms (Appian, Cloudera Hadoop)
• 2–3 years experience with databases (Microsoft SQL Server, HBase, Hive)
• Strong knowledge of SAFe Agile practices (preferred)
• Proficiency working with large data sets
• 3+ years enterprise and application design patterns for the Java platform
• JDK experience with rules authoring using Drools (DRL)
• Knowledge of rules versioning and rules development patterns such as decision tables
• Understanding of optimization in rule execution for efficiency and scalability
• Integration experience connecting business rules with databases such as MongoDB and Oracle
• 3+ years writing unit test cases for rules using JUnit
• 1+ year experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework (Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security, etc.)

Additional Skills

• Experience with RESTful services and APIs
• Familiarity with XML/JSON
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools
• 3+ years with engineering/platform tools such as Bitbucket, Gradle, Octopus, Artifactory
• 1+ year with container orchestration platforms (OpenShift or Kubernetes)
