Software Engineer - iOS

Role Overview

You’ll join Nextdoor’s team of mobile engineers to build and improve the iOS app ecosystem. The team works on both infrastructure and product features, emphasizing fast iteration, quality, and reliability in an AI-first workflow.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and improve key parts of the iOS stack, including:
  • Networking
  • Analytics
  • Experiments
  • Modular app structure
• Own end-to-end engineering for your team’s product area (from ideas to delivery).
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to drive product direction.
• Use rigorous data analysis to understand the impact of new features.
• Contribute to team culture through in-person events (trainings, off-sites, volunteer days).
• Build in-person relationships and participate in company culture activities.
• As you grow, mentor other team members and expand your scope toward what you’re most passionate about.

Requirements

• 3+ years of mobile development experience with shipped iOS features in production.
• Expertise in Swift and Xcode (including the build system).
• Strong knowledge of the iOS development ecosystem, including core system libraries.
• Proven ability to build complex, high-quality iOS applications with strong understanding of:
  • iOS app design principles
  • architectural patterns
  • testing and best practices
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly via:
  • writing (design docs, PR reviews)
  • verbal communication (cross-functional syncs)
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize high-impact work.
• Thoughtful use of AI tooling in daily engineering (knows when it helps vs. gets in the way).

Bonus Points

• Experience writing automated tests for iOS applications.
• Experience implementing iOS accessibility features.
