About the role

Role Overview

Software Engineer (Integrations) at SchooLinks (greenfield, individual contributor). You will own the architecture, implementation, testing, documentation, and long-term maintenance of data migration and integration infrastructure. You’ll start by building an integration with Slate (Technolutions) and expand into a broader integration platform as the partner ecosystem grows.

Key Missions

Architect and implement bi-directional data integrations between SchooLinks and external platforms, starting with Slate.
Build RESTful API integrations including webhooks and OAuth/SSO flows for secure, real-time data exchange.
Set up monitoring, alerting, and observability in production; own maintenance, incident response, and iterative improvements.

Responsibilities (Full Lifecycle Ownership)

Translate ambiguous requirements into shipped, production-ready systems.
Write technical specs before building and document as you go for internal and external stakeholders.
Own integration testing infrastructure and write tests as a first-class part of development.

Requirements

4+ years software engineering experience with strong focus on API integrations, data pipelines, or platform engineering.
Experience demonstrating solo ownership from design through production.
Proficiency in Python and Pandas.
Ideally exposure to Django.
Strong experience with ETL patterns, data transformation, and sync strategies (including schema mismatches and real-time vs. batch tradeoffs).
Hands-on experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and OAuth.
Experience integrating with education/admissions CRMs (e.g., Slate, Salesforce, Ellucian, or similar).
Familiarity with K-12 or higher ed data standards (e.g., Common App formats; SIS platforms like Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, Clever, Classlink).
Understanding of multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
Comfortable using AI coding tools daily (Claude or similar such as GitHub Copilot/Cursor).

Nice to Have

Prior work connecting K-12 platforms to higher ed/admissions systems.
Additional familiarity with SIS and admissions ecosystem workflows.
