Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Role Overview

You’ll join Chime’s Core Infrastructure team within Infrastructure Engineering. The team manages the infrastructure systems powering Chime, including Cloud operations, Observability, and Compute. The role focuses on automation, building self-service tooling, and supporting reliable infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities

• Automate scaling, monitoring, and operations.
• Build self-service tools for the team and across Chime engineering.
• Write and maintain tooling in Ruby on Rails and Go.
• Design, build, and support Chime cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code.
• Adapt new technologies to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
• Partner with product development engineers to implement services using modern design patterns (e.g., 12 Factor App).
• Advocate for and adopt AI tools, including agentic AI workflows, in a safe and reliable way.

Requirements

• 2+ years of cloud and infrastructure experience.
• Strong development experience in Ruby on Rails and Go.
• Prior professional experience in DevOps/SRE/ProdEng supporting customer-facing web services.
• Experience managing Kubernetes clusters (cloud-hosted or self-hosted).
• Experience building and managing highly available public cloud infrastructure with focus on stability, scalability, and security.
• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code, including maintaining Terraform modules.
• Experience supporting service components such as relational and/or NoSQL databases, message buses, and caching.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.
• Collaborative, customer-focused communication and mindset.
