About the role

Role Overview

Software Engineer, Infrastructure (all levels) at Render. You’ll help build and scale Render’s core cloud infrastructure across multiple data centers and regions, with a focus on reliability, performance, and security for developer workloads including AI-native applications.

Responsibilities

  • Own Render’s core infrastructure across multiple data centers and regions.
  • Architect and plan for rapidly increasing scale.
  • Debug issues across the infrastructure stack.
  • Improve performance and reliability using:
    • increased observability
    • load testing
    • chaos engineering
  • Collaborate with other engineers to keep the platform stable, predictable, and secure.
  • Participate in on-call (as noted in the posting).

Focus Areas

  • Improve architecture to schedule and spin up containers significantly faster.
  • Build offerings to support growing AI workloads.
  • Enhance internal traffic routing and load balancing performance and add features.
  • Create low-level primitives to enable massive parallelization for data processing workloads.

Requirements / Experience

  • Deep specialization in cloud infrastructure.
  • Particularly interested in experience with:
    • Container orchestration
    • Low-level networking
    • Storage management

Nice to Have (from context)

  • Experience working on infrastructure that supports high-scale, multi-service developer platforms (MVP to millions of users).
  • Ability to operate in a reliability-focused environment (observability, load testing, chaos engineering).
