Software Engineer III

Role Overview

UKG is seeking a Software Engineer III for the Device team, building software for UKG InTouch time and attendance terminals. The role focuses on high-impact mobile solutions that run on proprietary enterprise hardware using an AI-first approach.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Flutter-based applications using Dart for reliable cross-platform experiences.
• Lead projects and contribute to architecture decisions.
• Use AI coding tools daily for code generation, review, debugging, and testing; help shape AI-first development practices.
• Review teammates’ code and participate in design reviews with stakeholders.
• Build and automate tests using Flutter’s testing framework (unit, widget, integration layers).
• Implement accessibility features and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
• Apply secure coding practices and data privacy principles throughout the development lifecycle.
• Document features, fixes, and enhancements for team knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Dart and Flutter for cross-platform mobile development.
• Experience with accessibility requirements and implementing accessibility features.
• Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools as a core part of the workflow.
• Familiarity with version control and Agile project tracking tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Native Android experience for platform-level integrations.
• Experience with Android hardware integrations (e.g., biometrics, peripheral readers).
• Interest in prompt engineering / AI workflow optimization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and test automation tools/frameworks.

Location / Work Model

• Hybrid: 3 days in the office in Lowell, Massachusetts.
• No visa sponsorship.
