About the role

Role Overview

Software Engineer III (UI Front-End SWE3) to support Nightwing CODEX. You will lead a UI/front-end team, own front-end architecture and coding standards, and remain hands-on across the full software product lifecycle in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor UI/front-end developers: provide technical guidance, standards, and code reviews.
Architect and implement scalable, maintainable front-end solutions using modern frameworks.
Translate UX/UI designs and prototypes into functional, responsive, and accessible interfaces.
Collaborate with backend engineers to design and integrate APIs for efficient front-end/back-end data flow.
Contribute to full-stack development as needed (backend services, database interactions, and deployment pipelines).
Define and enforce front-end coding standards, best practices, and component reuse.
Partner with UX/UI and systems engineers to preserve design intent.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, cross-browser issues, and technical debt.
Participate in sprint planning, technical estimation, and architectural decision-making.
Maintain compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508, WCAG).

Required Qualifications

12 years experience as a SWE in programs/contracts of similar scope and complexity.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or 4 additional years SWE experience can substitute).
7 years experience in Software Database and Repository Interface Development.
Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring development teams.
Strong proficiency with modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) and core web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Full-stack experience including backend development (Node.js, Python, Java) and RESTful/GraphQL API design.
Experience with state management, component-based architecture, and responsive design.
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GovCloud a plus).
Experience working with UX/UI and systems engineers to implement accessible interfaces.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with tiered architectural systems.
Experience in Linux/Ubuntu environments.
