Software Engineer III

Role Overview

Reflexive Concepts seeks a Software Engineer III (UI Front-End Software Engineer, SWE3) to support Nightwing CODEX. You will lead a team of UI developers, shaping front-end architecture and coding standards while staying hands-on across the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor UI/front-end developers with technical guidance, standards, and code reviews
• Architect and implement scalable, maintainable front-end solutions using modern frameworks
• Convert UX/UI prototypes and design specifications into functional, responsive, and accessible interfaces
• Collaborate with backend engineers to design and integrate APIs and ensure efficient data flow
• Contribute to full-stack efforts as needed (backend services, database interactions, deployment pipelines)
• Define and enforce front-end coding standards, best practices, and component reuse
• Partner with UX/UI and systems engineers to preserve design intent through implementation
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, cross-browser issues, and technical debt
• Participate in sprint planning, technical estimation, and architectural decision-making
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508, WCAG) throughout development

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs/contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) OR 4 years additional SWE experience may substitute for the degree
• 7+ years experience in Software Database and Repository Interface Development
• Proven experience leading or mentoring development teams

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in modern front-end frameworks: React, Angular, or Vue
• Solid web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Full-stack experience including backend development (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java) and RESTful/GraphQL API design
• Experience with state management, component-based architecture, and responsive design
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GovCloud a plus)
• Experience working with UX/UI and systems engineers to implement accessible interfaces

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with tiered architectural systems
• Experience in Linux/Ubuntu environments
