Software Engineer III (GO)

Role Overview

Join PrizePicks as a Software Engineer III (Go) on the Board, Discovery & Live team. You’ll own feature development in Go-based services powering core platform experiences such as shopping, search, and live functionality.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architecture: Participate in team-level architectural decisions, evaluating trade-offs and proposing solutions.
• Own feature development end-to-end: From technical design through delivery, breaking complex initiatives into well-scoped deliverables.
• Write high-quality Go code: Produce idiomatic, performant, well-tested production code.
• Improve quality proactively: Drive improvements in code quality, performance, reliability, and developer experience.
• Guide junior engineers: Provide technical guidance via code reviews, pairing, and design feedback.
• Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with Product, Design, and QA to align implementation with product goals.
• On-call ownership: Participate in incident response and contribute to root-cause analysis and systemic fixes.
• Build team knowledge: Document technical decisions, architecture, and patterns.
• Performance ownership: Own high-throughput endpoints, including database queries and caching strategies.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful time building Go services.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex features that drive business outcomes.
• Ability to break down ambiguous requirements into concrete technical plans.

Technical Skills

• Advanced Go proficiency, including strong understanding of Go concurrency.
• Advanced SQL skills: schema design, query optimization, and performance at scale.
• Experience designing/building RESTful and/or gRPC APIs.
• Strong testing practices: unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
