Software Engineer III

Role Overview

Software Engineer III focused on backend development for complex parts of major CSI applications. You will design, code, test, debug, and maintain scalable services, APIs, and data processing components using Node.js and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Project leadership: Own the development and rollout of entire backend systems, services, or large-scale projects.
• Engineering standards: Enforce department coding standards and best practices, with strong emphasis on TypeScript, code quality, and backend architecture patterns.
• Backend technical delivery: Deliver backend-focused initiatives using sound project management practices.
• Technical specifications & risk management: Write backend technical specifications and identify risks (including performance and scalability considerations).
• Thought leadership & optimization: Proactively investigate complex issues and provide thought leadership for backend system design and optimization.
• Coaching & mentorship: Coach and mentor less experienced engineers in Node.js/TypeScript and backend engineering practices, and champion modern processes/tech (e.g., Agile, CI/CD).

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with Node.js and TypeScript, including backend architecture patterns, asynchronous programming, scalable service design, and code quality best practices.
• Experience building and maintaining backend programs: design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of API design, data modeling, performance optimization, and scalability.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of backend systems/services from development through rollout.
• Experience enforcing coding standards and maintainable development patterns, especially around TypeScript and backend architecture.
• Experience with Agile processes and CI/CD / modern software delivery workflows.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems, propose effective solutions, and provide thought leadership.
• Demonstrated technical judgment and ability to mentor others.

• Accredited education in applicable technology; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
