Software Engineer II

Role overview

Software Engineer II at Press Ganey, working within an AI-enabled engineering workflow that powers the Hyperlift Stars Platform. You’ll develop, test, and maintain software features and modules while using AI tools to improve development speed, testing, and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements and participate in technical discussions to understand scope and design intent.
• Implement and maintain features/modules according to design specifications and internal standards.
• Leverage AI tools to:
  • accelerate implementation,
  • improve testing coverage,
  • streamline debugging.
• Refactor and optimize code for performance, clarity, and testability.
• Produce documentation and design artifacts for owned features.
• Contribute to database schema design (PostgreSQL) and API development for the platform.
• Own features end-to-end: implementation → testing → deployment → post-release support.
• Write unit, integration, and system-level tests for feature behavior and edge cases.
• Debug using observability tools and AI-assisted troubleshooting.
• Prepare for production release with deployment plans and rollback strategies.
• Participate in peer code reviews and support team engineering quality and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Experience implementing and delivering software features across the full lifecycle (build, test, deploy, and support).
• Ability to write thorough automated tests (unit/integration/system) and handle edge cases.
• Experience with debugging supported by observability practices.
• Programming experience preferably with Elixir/Phoenix and/or Python/Flask.
• Experience contributing to PostgreSQL schema work and API development.

Nice-to-haves

• Strong familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows for improving speed, testing, and debugging.
