Role Overview
Software Engineer II at Mariner Finance. You will design and develop web applications and contribute across different layers of the infrastructure, partnering with your team to deliver high-quality software.
Responsibilities
- Read and implement detailed design specifications.
- Build customized solutions aligned to business requirements and key decision-making.
- Ensure quality across technical areas including:
- data migrations and data quality
- systems integrations and third-party applications
- AppExchange products and custom code
- Create design specifications, documentation, and unit testing plans following the agile development process.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and reconcile differences in implementation/design.
- Develop independently and also under direction from product architects and development leads.
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable software.
- Support product direction via architectural and database design.
- Maintain code quality, organization, and cleanliness.
- Collaborate cross-team to deliver enhancements on time and within budget.
- Help junior developers resolve issues and share technical/system knowledge.
- Proactively identify tasks and improvements that increase team efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years in a software development role.
- Node.js and React (or Vue.js), with familiarity with Express.
- Basic understanding of database design and development across SQL and NoSQL; MongoDB preferred.
- Knowledge of Git (experience with GitHub preferred).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Experience shipping readable, modular, reusable code.
- Understanding of web application architecture and core computer science principles.
- Ability to communicate clearly (including writing intelligently).
- Self-starter who can take an idea from whiteboard to production.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative studies (CS, math, economics, statistics, etc.).
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language.
- Experience with command line tools.
- Experience with Redis.
- Familiarity with VS Code.
- Experience with consumer lending and underwriting.
Work Hours / Location
- Work hours depend on the business hours of the serviced time zone.
- Physical demands: frequent sitting; occasional movement; may require reaching and talking/hearing.
