About the role

Role Overview

Software Engineer II (Frontend) for the Signup & Activation team, building and optimizing frontend experiences that convert visitors into engaged users. You will influence user acquisition and activation metrics by delivering seamless, intuitive, high-performing web interfaces across Scribd’s brands.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain frontend components and features for user signup and activation flows
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, data analysts, and engineers to deliver scalable, accessible web experiences
  • Implement A/B testing and personalization features to improve engagement and conversion rates
  • Contribute to frontend architecture with an emphasis on code quality and reusability
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve frontend issues in a timely manner
  • Work with backend engineers to support integration and ensure smooth data flow
  • Stay current with emerging frontend technologies and best practices

Requirements

  • 4+ years building and shipping customer-facing frontend applications
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript (especially React)
  • Experience with modern frameworks such as Next.js
  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and its ecosystem
  • Strong frontend fundamentals: state management, component architecture, accessibility, testing, and UI quality
  • Experience integrating frontends with APIs (REST; GraphQL preferred)
  • Knowledge of experimentation: A/B testing and personalization systems
  • Ability to build interactive, detail-oriented experiences with strong UX
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in shared codebases, monorepos, or shared UI libraries

Nice to Have

  • Comfort using AI tools to accelerate development and debugging
