Software Engineer II - Front End (LOC)

Role Overview

Software Engineer II – Front End (Remote) Ad Hoc is seeking a Front End individual contributor to build and maintain user-facing applications for federal civilian customers. The role partners with engineering, QA, UX, and stakeholders to deliver complete features from story refinement through production deployment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Build and maintain user-facing applications using Angular, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript
• Implement UI designs from Figma specs using federal Design System components
• Write and maintain end-to-end UI tests using Selenium and Cypress to improve automated test coverage
• Ensure frontend accessibility meets WCAG 2.1 AA standards in collaboration with the UX/Accessibility team
• Debug, optimize, and monitor across test and production environments; contribute to CI/CD pipeline work as needed
• Participate in mandatory peer code review and adhere to the four-eyes principle
• Collaborate cross-functionally (backend, QA, UX) to ship features from refinement to deployment
• Participate in SAFe ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives)
• Contribute to Design System component development to keep modules consistent
• Support on-call rotations as needed and grow cross-functional knowledge via paired programming

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience and a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
• Must meet federal suitability requirements and pass a background investigation
• Proficiency in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Angular
• Experience implementing UI designs from Figma (or similar)
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium and Cypress (or Playwright)

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with design systems and federal UI component ecosystems
• Experience contributing to accessibility implementation (WCAG 2.1 AA)
