About the role

Role Overview

You’ll join Abnormal AI’s Data Platform team to design, build, and operate scalable data systems that power data-heavy AI workloads. The role focuses on core storage, batch/stream processing, orchestration, and developer/operational tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, and operations of core components of the data platform
  • Build tools and services that help other teams adopt and scale data systems
  • Automate infrastructure and operations to improve reliability, performance, and scalability
  • Apply GenAI techniques to improve developer and operator experiences
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address scalability and reliability challenges
  • Take end-to-end ownership of features/projects with guidance from senior engineers

Requirements

  • 1+ years of professional software engineering experience (backend, distributed systems, or infrastructure preferred)
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or a similar language
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals (data structures, clean code, testing, debugging)
  • Interest in learning AWS, Databricks, and technologies in the stack (databases, streaming, orchestration)
  • Curious, strong problem-solving skills; comfortable asking questions
  • Ability to work independently and in a team with strong communication

Nice to Have

  • Experience with PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Redis, RocksDB
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Exposure to large-scale or data-intensive systems
