About the role
Role Overview
You’ll join Abnormal AI’s Data Platform team to design, build, and operate scalable data systems that power data-heavy AI workloads. The role focuses on core storage, batch/stream processing, orchestration, and developer/operational tooling.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and operations of core components of the data platform
- Build tools and services that help other teams adopt and scale data systems
- Automate infrastructure and operations to improve reliability, performance, and scalability
- Apply GenAI techniques to improve developer and operator experiences
- Collaborate with engineering teams to address scalability and reliability challenges
- Take end-to-end ownership of features/projects with guidance from senior engineers
Requirements
- 1+ years of professional software engineering experience (backend, distributed systems, or infrastructure preferred)
- Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or a similar language
- Solid software engineering fundamentals (data structures, clean code, testing, debugging)
- Interest in learning AWS, Databricks, and technologies in the stack (databases, streaming, orchestration)
- Curious, strong problem-solving skills; comfortable asking questions
- Ability to work independently and in a team with strong communication
Nice to Have
- Experience with PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Redis, RocksDB
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Exposure to large-scale or data-intensive systems
