About the role
Role overview
Software Engineer I (AssureHire - Go) (early-career)
Join a remote-first environment where you’ll help resolve production issues while building and improving backend services. You’ll collaborate across engineering, customer support, and customer success to investigate technical escalations, apply fixes, and improve product quality.
Responsibilities
- Own technical escalation tickets: investigate, reproduce, diagnose, and fix customer-reported and internal issues
- Collaborate with support/product/customer-success/engineering stakeholders to gather context and provide clear updates
- Write production-quality code, submit pull requests, participate in reviews, and support deployments
- Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up troubleshooting and improve engineering workflows (with independent technical judgment)
- Contribute to root-cause analysis and reduce recurring issues via code improvements, documentation, and operational process enhancements
- Follow secure development practices (access management, secrets handling, and protection of sensitive data)
- Work across backend technologies to gain experience with production systems and scalable development
Requirements
- 0–2 years professional software development experience (internships/co-ops/major academic/personal projects count)
- Proficiency in Go (relevant Python experience is a plus)
- Familiarity with relational databases and ability to write/understand SQL (preferably PostgreSQL)
- Strong debugging skills: analyze logs, reproduce issues, trace problems across systems
- Understanding of Unix shell scripting / command-line environments
- Interest in using AI development tools (e.g., Claude) and ability to critically evaluate AI-generated output
- Strong written/verbal communication; can explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ownership mindset; independent task management and issue follow-through
- Interest in secure handling of sensitive data
Benefits
- $65,000–$75,000 USD competitive annual salary
