About the role
Role overview
Software Engineer - Frontend (Contract) with Labelbox. Fully remote and asynchronous, with a minimum of 15 hrs/week. You’ll review and build frontend code that shapes the data powering frontier AI.
What you’ll do
- Review and evaluate AI-generated frontend code for correctness, efficiency, accessibility, and clarity
- Write high-quality frontend solutions for UI/web development problems across varying difficulty levels
- Produce clear, user-friendly explanations of design decisions, code logic, and problem-solving strategies
- Identify and flag edge cases or ambiguities in problem statements or AI responses
Requirements
- Fluent English and strong written communication skills
- Ability to clearly explain frontend coding concepts
- Strong JavaScript expertise, including:
- async/await, closures, DOM manipulation, ES6+, and browser APIs
- 3–5 years of experience with modern frontend frameworks/tools/domains (e.g., React, Vue, Angular)
- Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing) in Computer Science or related field
Nice to have
- Master’s/PhD preferred (not required)
- Experience with data labeling, RLHF, or other AI training projects
Interview process
- English screening with Zara (AI interviewer)
- Domain-specific interview assessing frontend expertise, including:
- frontend frameworks
- state management
- performance optimization
Work style
- Flexible workload: work from anywhere on your own schedule (asynchronous)
- Rolling start date as projects launch
