Software Engineer - Frontend

Role Overview

Software Engineer – Frontend (Contract) at Labelbox (via Alignerr). Fully remote and asynchronous, with a minimum commitment of 15 hours/week. You’ll review and write frontend code to help shape the data that powers frontier AI.

What You’ll Do

• Review and evaluate AI-generated frontend code for correctness, efficiency, accessibility, and clarity.
• Build high-quality frontend solutions for UI and web development tasks of varying difficulty.
• Produce clear, user-friendly explanations of:
  • design decisions,
  • code logic, and
  • problem-solving approaches.
• Identify and flag edge cases or ambiguities in problem statements or AI responses.

Requirements

• Fluent English with strong written communication skills.
• Ability to clearly explain frontend coding concepts.
• Strong JavaScript expertise, including:
  • async/await,
  • closures,
  • DOM manipulation,
  • ES6+ syntax, and
  • browser APIs.
• 3–5 years of experience with modern frontend frameworks/tools/domains (e.g., React, Vue, Angular, or web development).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or currently pursuing); Master’s/PhD preferred but not required.

Bonus / Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with data labeling, RLHF, or other AI training projects.

Interview Process

• English screening with Zara (AI interviewer).
• Domain-specific interview/assessment focused on frontend expertise, including frontend frameworks, state management, and performance optimization.

Contract & Work Details

• Hourly, at-will contractor.
• Fully remote & asynchronous.
• Pay range (US): $25–$100 per hour.
• Rolling start date as projects launch.
