About the role

Role Overview

The Dorm is seeking a Data & Systems Project Manager to serve as a key technical and operational partner. You’ll translate business needs into reliable data models and help build, scale, maintain, and streamline the data infrastructure and reporting systems used by clinical, admissions, finance, billing, and operations teams.

This is a contract role intended as a long-term technical partnership to strengthen the organization’s data architecture and operational technology systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using code and automation practices; write Python and work with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Build and optimize data models and manage code repositories with Git/GitHub.
  • Participate in code reviews via GitHub Pull Requests; monitor data quality and troubleshoot pipeline issues.
  • Implement CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
  • Design, develop, document, and maintain data pipelines, automations, integrations, and reporting systems for mission-critical functions.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot existing reporting/automation systems and resolve issues when upstream vendor platforms or internal workflows change.
  • Establish and maintain documentation, version control, testing, and change-management practices for long-term reliability and maintainability.
  • Train and mentor team members on running, validating, and troubleshooting automated report-generation processes.
  • Partner with software vendors and third-party consultants to evaluate solutions and ensure integrations align with organizational needs.
  • Improve data governance, reporting standards, and system documentation to support continuity and knowledge transfer.
  • Work with clinical, admissions, finance, billing, and operations leadership to deliver sustainable technical solutions.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years in software engineering, data science/analytics engineering, business systems administration, systems architecture, healthcare technology, or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, APIs, data transformation, and automation development.
  • Ability to independently support and maintain production systems after implementation (debugging, troubleshooting, adapting to vendor platform changes, ensuring continuity of critical workflows).
  • Experience building/maintaining production-level systems and automations/integrations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with healthcare technology and analytics/reporting environments that support operational and clinical workflows.

Location

  • New York, NY
