Software Engineer (Data Platform)

Role Overview

Pantheon is hiring a Software Engineer II (Data Platform). You’ll build scalable, reliable data systems, support critical data pipelines, partner with internal teams to deliver impactful data solutions, and help shape the technical strategy and operations of Pantheon’s data platform.

Key Missions

• Build evolving and reliable data systems while maintaining service levels for critical enterprise pipelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-impact data solutions and support self-service tooling.
• Contribute to the data platform technical strategy and operations by implementing data architecture best practices.

Responsibilities (what you’ll do)

• Design, implement, and optimize scalable data models for both OLAP (data warehouse) and OLTP (transactional) contexts.
• Work with distributed data systems concepts, including trade-offs for high throughput and low latency.
• Improve deployment quality by integrating automated test coverage and validation into deployment pipelines.
• Communicate technical designs, project status, and risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Build maintainable services/components in Python and/or Go.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years building production services and features (ideally a mix of Data Engineering experience).
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to use SQL with relational databases such as MySQL/Postgres.
• Familiarity with data warehousing and analytics platforms such as Snowflake/BigQuery.
• Familiarity with modern data stack tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Looker.
• Experience with cloud & infrastructure: containerization (Docker/OCI), Terraform, and Kubernetes (K8s).
