About the role

Role Overview

You will join May Mobility as a Software Engineer II (Data Platform), designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines that support the company’s data-driven initiatives. You’ll work independently to define approaches for tasks, handle ambiguous requirements, and ensure compatibility with adjacent systems.

Key Missions

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines
  • Define approaches for assigned tasks using standard engineering procedures and techniques
  • Collaborate on front-end interfaces to visualize data and improve fleet operations
  • Build and maintain libraries and APIs
  • Optimize data processing workflows

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of engineering tasks and execution against specs
  • Ensure system compatibility across platforms
  • Contribute to design discussions and resolve cross-team dependencies
  • Participate in agile development and maintain CI/CD practices

Requirements

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong software development skills with object-oriented programming (Python, Rust, Java, etc.)
  • Experience with data-processing pipelines in a cloud environment
  • Working knowledge of data structures and algorithms
  • Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Understanding of real-time data processing and distributed systems
  • Knowledge of data warehousing or data lake concepts
  • Familiarity with containerization: Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with telemetry systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with ambiguous requirements
  • Effective communication across technical and non-technical domains

Nice to Have

  • B.S. in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency in building APIs and supporting front-end interface development
  • Familiarity with deployment practices and cloud-native operations

Location / Work Model

  • Full remote
  • Minimal travel (1%–10%)
