About the role
Role Overview
Software Engineer (Data Platform) on the Data Platform team at Abnormal Security. You will design and operate scalable storage systems, build batch and stream data processing pipelines, and help orchestrate data workflows.
Key Missions
- Contribute to the design, development, and operation of Abnormal’s data platform components.
- Build tools and services that enable other teams to adopt and scale data systems.
- Help automate infrastructure and operations to improve reliability, performance, and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and operate data platform services (storage, processing, orchestration).
- Collaborate with experienced engineers on ambitious platform projects.
- Improve reliability and scalability through engineering and automation.
Requirements
- Solid programming skills in Python, Go, or a similar language.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, clean code, testing, debugging).
- 1+ years of professional experience in software engineering (backend/distributed systems/infrastructure preferred).
- Ability to work independently and in a team with strong communication skills.
- Interest in learning AWS and Databricks, plus data technologies (databases, streaming, orchestration).
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with one or more: PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Redis, RocksDB.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Exposure to large-scale or data-intensive systems.
