Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure & Acquisition - Cologne, Germany

Role Overview

You’ll join the Data side of Speechify’s AI team to own data collection and ingestion for model training. The role focuses on building and scaling high-quality datasets at very large scale and low cost via tight integration of infrastructure, engineering, and research.

What You’ll Do

• Find new sources of audio data and integrate them into the ingestion pipeline
• Operate and extend cloud infrastructure for the ingestion pipeline (currently on GCP), managed with Terraform
• Work closely with Scientists to improve the cost/throughput/quality balance and deliver better, larger datasets to power next-generation models
• Collaborate with the broader AI team and leadership to build the AI dataset roadmap for consumer and enterprise products

Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science (or related field)
• 5+ years of software development experience
• Proficiency with Bash/Python scripting in Linux environments
• Proficiency with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts, with professional experience on at least one major cloud provider (GCP used here)
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities

Nice to Have

• Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows

Compensation (Germany based)

• $30,000–$120,000 USD/year + bonus + stock (depending on experience)
