Software Engineer Co-Founder

Role overview

Founding (Co-Founder) Software Engineer at LomaAI, helping build the technical core of an early-stage geospatial/AI platform. This starts as an unpaid founding role, with equity guaranteed after you contribute post-seed funding. You’ll work closely with the founder to deliver scalable, data-driven features for monitoring crop risk and climate/food-system fragility.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale front-end components for geospatial dashboards and alert systems
• Develop and maintain backend APIs to process satellite and climate data
• Integrate weather, trade, and remote sensing data into clean, usable interfaces
• Collaborate on data pipelines, internal tools, and prototype visualizations
• Help define product priorities, user flows, and platform infrastructure
• Participate in agile development and async team collaboration

Requirements

• 1–3 years of full-stack software development experience (internships/freelance acceptable)
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React or Next.js
• Backend experience with Python and REST frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask
• Basic familiarity with cloud deployment on AWS, GCP, or similar
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and ship quickly in collaboration
• Self-driven mindset and strong interest in climate, agriculture, or intelligence tools

Nice to have

• Experience with geospatial tools (e.g., Mapbox, Leaflet, PostGIS)
• Familiarity with satellite data, remote sensing, or GIS systems
• Interest in humanitarian tech, climate adaptation, or food systems
• Contributions to open source or early-stage startups

Education

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related field
• SQL and relational database skills
