Role overview

Join Citizen Health as a Full-Stack Software Engineer to build and improve patient, partner, and company web applications. You’ll focus on creating intuitive, high-performance, accessible user experiences that directly impact users and the platform’s success.

Key missions

Contribute to development of web applications for patients, partners, and the company, building intuitive and responsive UI.
Build performant, scalable, accessible interfaces that leverage AI to serve diverse user groups, including patients with rare diseases.
Collaborate with the team to ship features and deliver real product value.

Responsibilities

Deliver end-to-end ownership of user-facing features (frontend, backend, or full-stack depending on strengths).
Use user needs, data, and experiments to guide decisions and iterate quickly.
Partner closely with teammates to ship and improve product outcomes.

Requirements

Builder/problem-solver mindset in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Comfortable diving into your strengths (frontend/backend/full-stack) and exploring how AI can improve experiences.
Experience working on consumer or data-rich products with track record of shipping user-facing features.
0–3 years of professional software engineering experience.
Frontend skills: JavaScript/TypeScript, modern framework (e.g., React/Vue), semantic HTML/CSS, accessibility, and performance for data-heavy UIs.
Testing experience (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, PyTest), plus comfort with code reviews and iterative development.
Strength in one or more areas such as:
- Performance/scalability/security fundamentals (web perf, API efficiency, data modeling, auth)
- CI/CD pipelines and modern build tooling
- Frontend state management (e.g., Redux/MobX/Recoil) and/or backend frameworks (e.g., Express/FastAPI/Spring/Fiber)
- Databases and writing queries to inform product decisions
- Analytics/experimentation and/or accessibility best practices

Nice to have

Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), containers, and observability.
