Software Engineer

Role Overview

You’ll join an early-stage AI startup (via Berkley Hunt) to build and scale a customer intelligence platform for eCommerce brands. The platform turns social conversations and digital community activity into actionable buying signals. This is a high-ownership role working closely with the founders from day one, with meaningful influence over product and engineering decisions.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve the core customer intelligence platform, including data collection, aggregation, and insight generation.
• Develop and maintain scraping infrastructure across social platforms (e.g., TikTok, Instagram, and other key channels).
• Create systems that identify buying intent and surface demand signals from social conversations and online communities.
• Collaborate with founders to translate business needs into technical solutions and product direction.
• Use AI to enhance data analysis pipelines and accelerate product capabilities.
• Ship features quickly in a fast-moving startup environment with visible impact.

Requirements

• Strong experience building data collection, web scraping, or social media aggregation systems.
• Python proficiency (primary language for data engineering, scraping, and backend development).
• Experience with Django (or a comparable backend framework) for building and maintaining APIs and platform infrastructure.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL (or similar relational databases) and ability to design/optimize data pipelines.
• Experience with AWS for scalable, event-driven workflows (e.g., Lambda, SQS).
• Comfort working across the stack; frontend experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript is expected.
• Familiarity with social platforms and the technical challenges of extracting structured data from unstructured sources.
• Product-focused mindset and comfort operating in a small, autonomous team.

Nice to Have

• Direct experience applying AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day workflows.
