About the role

Role: Software Engineer (Backend)

You’ll help build the foundational infrastructure for modern health plans at Yuzu—deepening beyond “digital brokerage” or AI wrappers.

Responsibilities

Contribute across the entire codebase as an early employee
Write in TypeScript using modern backend frameworks (e.g., NestJS) and related stack choices (e.g., SvelteKit)
Design data structures to handle healthcare domain complexities
Help shape company culture and influence product direction from an engineering perspective
Work in a clean, modern codebase with low tech debt and minimal tooling friction

Qualifications

Experience delivering successful software projects, ideally independently or within a small/early-stage team
In-person requirement: 5 days/week in the Flatiron, NYC office
Self-directed, curious, fast-paced mindset with strong communication skills

Nice to Haves

Experience with TypeScript, AWS CDK, and/or AWS
Experience in healthcare or fintech infrastructure

Compensation & Benefits

$140k–$240k annual salary + meaningful equity component (Series A level)
