About the role

Role

Backend Software Engineer on the Chronosphere team (Palo Alto Networks company), working on an observability platform for modern, containerized infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Influence how customers use observability tools to improve infrastructure and service architecture
Build platform features using AI infrastructure, including large language models and machine learning
Design systems to contextualize large telemetry datasets and improve insights
Contribute to architecture, scaling, performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of distributed systems
Develop and enhance internal monitoring and alerting to improve system observability
Collaborate with technical teams and customers to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions
Mentor junior engineers and uphold engineering standards
Participate in product development cycles from planning through deployment and maintenance

Requirements

Strong backend experience with Go, Java, Python, or Rust
Experience developing highly available, scalable systems in production
Hands-on cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
Ability to design and develop APIs: REST, gRPC, and/or GraphQL
Proven collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Experience managing projects end-to-end
Ability to work independently with good judgment on when to seek guidance
Experience working in a remote-first environment

Nice to Have

Experience using AI coding assistants such as Cursor or Claude
