Software Engineer, Backend (Java, KeeperApp)

Role Overview

Software Engineer (Backend) supporting a globally trusted cybersecurity platform. You’ll build secure, scalable server-side services, APIs, and core application functionality in a fully remote role for candidates based in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java
• Implement and improve business logic with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security
• Work with relational databases: design schemas, write queries, and optimize performance
• Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders to define, design, and deliver features
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to backend engineering standards and best practices
• Troubleshoot backend issues related to performance, reliability, and correctness
• Apply secure coding practices to protect sensitive data
• Contribute to Agile development and continuous improvement

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience
• Strong server-side Java experience delivering production-quality systems
• Solid understanding of backend architecture and API design
• Experience with MySQL or similar relational databases
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to shifting priorities
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent experience
• Authorization to work in the United States
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

• Kotlin experience is highly valued
