Software Engineer – Backend | $85/hr Remote

Role Overview

Work on sprint-based remote backend projects, typically delivered in short 12–24 hour stretches. The role involves reviewing and validating backend code produced via coding agents/models and applying engineering judgment to real-world backend scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Complete and evaluate complex backend engineering tasks using coding agents
• Review model-generated code for:
  • Correctness
  • Quality
  • Maintainability
  • Performance
• Identify bugs, edge cases, and failure modes in generated outputs
• Compare outputs from multiple models and assess strengths/weaknesses
• Apply engineering judgment to production-grade backend design and implementation

Requirements

• Strong experience in backend engineering
• Experience building APIs, distributed systems, microservices, and/or backend platforms/databases
• Experience using coding agents and developer productivity tools
• Ability to evaluate model-generated code and spot issues, edge cases, and architectural tradeoffs
• Strong experience working on large-scale production systems

Compensation

• $85/hour commission for accepted tasks
• Typical accepted tasks: ~$400 per task, taking 2–3 hours after ramp-up
