About the role

Role overview

Ascensus is hiring multiple Software Engineer roles on its AI Technology team (Associate, Mid, Senior) plus an SDET track. You’ll work on enterprise AI systems by troubleshooting AI behavior, partnering to find root causes, and improving platform performance across LLMs, agent workflows, and backend integrations.

Responsibilities

Technical support & triage

  • Investigate and resolve issues reported by users of Agent Assist
  • Reproduce failures and trace issues across:
    • LLM responses and prompts
    • Agent workflows and orchestration
    • Tool/MCP calls and backend integrations (e.g., Salesforce and internal enterprise apps)
  • Analyze logs, traces, and telemetry (e.g., Langfuse, New Relic logs)
  • Document findings and partner with engineering to drive resolution

System debugging & improvement

  • Determine whether issues originate from prompting, retrieval (RAG), tool selection, or backend systems
  • Propose improvements to agents, skills, prompts, and workflows
  • Use AI-powered development tools (e.g., Cursor) to accelerate debugging and analysis
  • Improve system reliability and response quality

User enablement & evangelism

  • Train internal users on how to use Agent Assist
  • Run demos, onboarding sessions, and office hours
  • Advise client-facing associates and drive adoption by clarifying capabilities and limitations

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work with engineering, product, and AI teams
  • Translate user issues into clear, actionable tickets and improvement requests
  • Identify recurring patterns and escalate systemic issues

Requirements

  • Up to 3 years in software engineering/support/QA/SDET or engineering-adjacent work (incl. internships, co-ops, academic projects)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug with a focus on root cause analysis
  • Foundational exposure to:
    • API testing (Postman or similar)
    • Reading logs and debugging application behavior
    • Basic SQL / data inspection
  • Interest or exposure to AI/LLM-based systems (prompting, chatbots, RAG, agents)
  • Experience using (or willingness to learn) AI-powered dev tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code)
  • Strong communication skills; able to translate technical issues clearly
