About the role

Role overview

Ascensus is hiring multiple Software Engineers for its AI Technology team across associate (0–2 years), mid (3–5 years), and senior (5–15 years) levels, plus an SDET track (3+ years). The role is hands-on and focuses on troubleshooting AI behavior, fixing root causes, and improving platform performance across LLMs, agent workflows, and backend systems.

Responsibilities

Technical support, triage, and debugging

  • Investigate and resolve issues reported by users of Agent Assist
  • Reproduce issues and trace failures across:
    • LLM responses and prompts
    • Agent workflows and orchestration
    • Tool/MCP calls and backend integrations (e.g., Salesforce and internal enterprise apps)
  • Analyze logs, traces, and telemetry (e.g., Langfuse, New Relic logs)
  • Document findings and partner with engineering to resolve issues

System debugging and improvement

  • Determine whether issues stem from prompting, retrieval (RAG), tool selection, or backend systems
  • Propose improvements to agents, skills, prompts, and workflows
  • Use AI-powered tools (e.g., Cursor) to accelerate debugging and solutioning
  • Improve system reliability and response quality

User enablement and evangelism

  • Train internal users on how to use Agent Assist
  • Run demos, onboarding sessions, and office hours
  • Act as a trusted advisor to client-facing associates
  • Drive adoption by explaining capabilities and limitations

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work with engineering, product, and AI teams
  • Convert user issues into clear, actionable tickets and improvements
  • Identify recurring patterns and escalate systemic issues

Responsible handling of confidential data

  • Protect, secure, and properly handle confidential information to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure

Requirements

  • Up to 3 years experience in software engineering, software support, QA/SDET, or an engineering-adjacent role (including internships/co-ops/academic projects)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis
  • Foundational exposure to:
    • API testing (e.g., Postman)
    • Reading logs and debugging application behavior
    • Basic SQL / data inspection
  • Interest or exposure to AI/LLM systems (prompting, RAG, chatbots, agents)
  • Ability/willingness to learn AI-powered dev tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code)
  • Strong communication skills, including translating issues into actionable information
