About the role
Role: Software Engineer II (API)
Remote (US) — FTE Perm
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and business partners to define and deliver complex software solutions.
- Work in an Agile (Scrum) environment to triage issues, resolve problems, and build/enhance product features.
- Build business logic exposed via RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
- Design and develop serverless services on AWS to improve modularity, performance, security, and development efficiency.
- Participate in application and service design.
- Document designs and objectives and create/respond to RFCs in a shared collaboration space (e.g., Confluence).
- Respond to bugs and production support issues.
- Conduct code reviews, create pull requests, and incorporate feedback.
- Communicate timelines, objectives, and project status with team members and stakeholders.
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial software development building service-oriented applications with TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
- 3+ years programming in Java, C#, Scala, Python, and/or Go.
- Experience contributing production-delivered features/services in commercial or enterprise environments.
- Proficient with Git and branching/PR workflows.
- Proficient with Agile Scrum and Azure DevOps and/or Jira.
- Experience writing SQL queries and DML for relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
- Experience creating or consuming RESTful APIs.
- Strong communication and ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Nice to Haves
- AWS Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, S3 (and other AWS services).
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer.
- Experience building automation test suites.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of PKI, OAuth, and Infosec.
- Experience with veterinary practice management software (e.g., Cornerstone, AviMark, IDEXX Datapoint).
Location / Eligibility
- Must be located in and authorized to work in the United States.
- No visa sponsorship.
- Must work during regular US business hours and attend remote daily standups and weekly meetings.
- Travel not required.
