Software Engineer Android

Role overview

You’ll join Superhuman’s Mobile Team as a Software Engineer (Android). The goal is to build and improve features that make the Superhuman Android experience world-class, especially for the AI Writing Assistant, which must respond instantly and reliably.

Superhuman engineers collaborate with Product, Design, and Machine Learning and have the freedom to innovate and influence the product roadmap.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Machine Learning to take ideas from concept to production
• Contribute to the mobile architecture to ensure exceptional responsiveness and performance, including in resource-constrained environments
• Diagnose performance bottlenecks and bugs and drive improvements for a delightful user experience
• Tackle real-world mobile communication challenges users face daily
• Deliver high-quality releases through effective testing and continuous improvement

Requirements

• 3+ years designing, developing, and maintaining apps published on the Google Play Store
• Experience owning and leading projects and/or leading a small team of engineers
• Strong Kotlin skills
• Proficiency with modern Android development patterns, especially MVVM
• Solid experience with the Android SDK and Jetpack libraries
• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, best practices, and building custom UI elements
• Skilled in multithreading, and optimizing memory and performance
• Experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow
• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests and instrumentation tests
• Experience integrating and consuming RESTful APIs
• Experience with Mobile CI/CD (automating builds, testing, and deployment)
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities across multiple projects, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment
