About the role

Role Overview

Join a small, collaborative engineering team as an Android Software Engineer. You will build and maintain Android mobile applications that integrate with cloud solutions, support in-field maintenance/configuration of smart water meters, and strengthen Bluetooth connectivity between apps and hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Android mobile applications across the full lifecycle (concept → deployment)
  • Lead Bluetooth integration to enable secure, reliable communication with hardware devices
  • Build features for hardware maintenance, configuration workflows, manufacturing, and commissioning
  • Collaborate with cloud and firmware teams for platform integration and data synchronization
  • Support migration and maintenance of legacy mobile apps built with older frameworks
  • Partner with UI/UX and product teams to deliver polished, intuitive, field- and user-friendly experiences
  • Perform rigorous testing, participate in code reviews, and enforce security best practices
  • Participate in planning, sprint reviews, and technical discussions to improve quality and performance

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science/Software Engineering (or 5+ years equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of Android mobile application development
  • Proven ability to build responsive, user-friendly mobile apps
  • Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum using tools such as Atlassian or Azure DevOps
  • Strong Kotlin skills and modern Android development practices
  • Experience integrating Bluetooth on Android
  • Familiarity with Jetpack Compose and Material Design 3
  • Knowledge of MVVM, dependency injection with Hilt, and reactive programming with Flow/StateFlow
  • Experience with backend integration using REST and GraphQL
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, testing methodologies, and code review processes
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (UI/UX, product, firmware)

Nice to Have

  • Experience migrating/mapping legacy mobile apps built with .NET, MAUI, or UWP
