Role Overview

Software Engineer, Android at Meta. You’ll help build and improve mobile application experiences and contribute to systems that connect billions of people globally.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, operations, infrastructure) to build innovative Android application experiences
Implement custom user interfaces using modern programming techniques and technologies
Analyze and optimize code for quality, efficiency, and performance; provide feedback in code reviews
Help set team direction and goals; lead major initiatives; provide technical guidance and mentorship; support onboarding
Architect efficient and scalable systems for complex applications
Identify and resolve performance/scalability issues and drive reductions in technical debt
Build across a variety of coding languages/technologies as needed
Take ownership of components/features/systems with end-to-end understanding

Minimum Qualifications

Experience driving organizational change and leading complex technical projects
Ability to use data and analysis to explain technical problems and provide detailed feedback/solutions
2+ years building Android applications in Java using the Android SDK

Preferred Qualifications

Shipped at least one large-scale production product supporting millions of active users
Experience with multithreading and mobile memory management
Experience building maintainable, testable codebases, including API design and unit testing
Ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows with measurable impact
Experience applying responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality/accuracy reviews)
Ongoing AI skill development (prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
