Software Engineer, Android, Level 4

Role overview

Snap Inc. is hiring an Android Engineer (Level 4) to build smooth, stable, and engaging Android experiences. You’ll help develop features from design through launch while maintaining high standards for code quality, correctness, security, and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Build great Android user experiences and push mobile device capabilities
• Develop and ship features from design to implementation and launch
• Evaluate technical tradeoffs and partner with design on UI/infrastructure best practices
• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality
• Use AI tools and high-velocity engineering workflows to design and ship scalable services
• Maintain rigorous standards for code correctness, security, and production readiness

Requirements

• Ability to use Kotlin, Java, RxJava, Dagger, and related tools to build Android apps
• Ability to prioritize work and operate effectively independently
• Strong aptitude for leveraging AI tools in development, with critical judgment to audit AI output (architecture, performance bottlenecks, and security risks)
• Adaptability to learn and apply evolving AI systems and development practices

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 2+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience
  • (or Master’s + 1+ year, or PhD with relevant experience)
• Experience in Android application development

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with large-scale customer-facing mobile applications

Work model / location

• Default Together: expected to work in an office 4+ days per week
