Software Engineer (AI Product)

Role Overview

Join Vanta as a Senior Applied AI Engineer (Software Engineer, AI Product). You’ll help shape Vanta’s AI technical strategy and lead projects that integrate AI into products, working closely with AI platform engineers and mentoring other engineers.

Key Missions

• Contribute to the technical strategy and lead AI projects that improve customer outcomes.
• Design and implement AI-driven features, including integration of LLMs with Vanta’s existing products and systems.
• Collaborate with AI Platform engineers to shape core AI systems and tools that accelerate product teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale full-stack applications with a focus on backend systems, APIs, and frontend interfaces.
• Develop and improve AI systems, including creating evaluation sets and driving quality improvements.
• Ship LLM-backed products and apply prompting, RAG, and/or agent frameworks.
• Work cross-functionally with product and design; mentor engineers.
• Engage directly with users and iterate with a “product hat” mindset.

Requirements

• 7+ years as a software engineer.
• Experience designing/building/scaling full-stack applications (backend systems, APIs, frontend).
• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, and Node.js (or willingness to learn).
• Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating with product and design.
• Experience improving AI systems (evaluation sets, quality improvement).
• Experience shipping LLM-backed products with prompting and RAG and/or agent frameworks.
• Action-oriented, comfortable engaging with users.
