Role: Software Engineer, AI Platform

Join Mixpanel’s newly formed AI Platform team at the center of its AI-first analytics vision. You’ll build greenfield, shared infrastructure that accelerates AI agent development for both internal teams and customers.

Responsibilities

• Platform Architecture: Design and develop core backend services, APIs, and microservices so product teams can securely leverage AI models.
• Agent Orchestration: Build scalable frameworks for multi-step agent workflows (task decomposition, tool invocation, persistent memory).
• Evaluation & Reliability: Create evaluation systems to measure reasoning quality, hallucination rates, and task success.
• Operational Excellence: Architect high-performance serving infrastructure with guarantees around latency, throughput, cost efficiency, and error handling.
• Observability & MLOps: Implement monitoring, structured logging, and distributed tracing across deployed AI models.
• Collaboration: Work with designers, product managers, and engineers to build self-serve infrastructure.
• Leadership: Advocate for engineering best practices, conduct design/code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Mathematics (or equivalent practical experience)
• 2+ years professional software engineering experience
• Strong full-stack fundamentals across frontend, backend, and data layers
• Excellent debugging and technical investigation skills
• Strong technical communication (including asynchronous collaboration)
• Ability to move fast and iterate in ambiguous environments; strong ownership
• Hands-on experience integrating and orchestrating LLMs and agents

Nice-to-haves (implied)

• Experience building and scaling AI-native systems in production
• Familiarity with techniques for optimizing AI agents (e.g., evaluation frameworks)
