About the role
Role overview
Join Abnormal AI as a Software Engineer on the Portal Platform team. You’ll design and deliver platform-level projects end-to-end, building backend services/APIs and frontend libraries that raise performance, quality, and developer experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute platform-level software projects from conception through launch, collaborating with senior engineers across the organization.
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs powering portal experiences.
- Create reusable frontend libraries, design systems, and developer tooling.
- Drive frontend performance, accessibility, and quality standards across portal applications.
- Continuously raise engineering excellence through best practices.
Requirements
- Experience working with distributed teams, including strong asynchronous written communication.
- Full-stack experience in enterprise environments.
- 4+ years as a software engineer building full-stack web applications.
- Backend development experience with Python, TypeScript, or Go.
- Proficiency in React and front-end best practices.
- Strong fundamentals in computer science, data structures, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with the stack: AWS, Kubernetes (K8s), Python/Django, React, Postgres.
- BS degree in Computer Science/related engineering field.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience or passion for leveraging AI development tools.
- Experience building large-scale web frontend applications.
- Experience with micro-frontend architecture patterns.
- Experience with front-end build tools.
- Knowledge of web security (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
